| Hello,
At some stage after the refurb prep is done, I will be respraying the car. Currently it is Cinnabar Red (R4) but my intention is to go darker and use Toreador Red (R2) in 2K.
Speaking with Jawel Paints in the Midlands, who I use occasionally, they cannot find the Saab R2 code. However they have a Toreador Red as produced by / for AWL Grip and Dark Toreador Red made by / for General Motors.
I need to contact some other paint suppliers, who I use to progress the enquiry.
As such, has anyone used any paint suppliers whereby they have been able to ID the correct colour using the Saab paint code; not necessarily R2 or R4.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Richard.

| Many thanks for the attached very useful indeed and doubt it gets more comprehensive than that !!
Interesting to note some subtle colour shades, of the same named colour, depending upon the paint manufacturer.
Regards.

| When I had the Troll resprayed back in 1991, it was done with ICI paint using code R2. However it should have been R2B for the correct shade for Saab Works rally colours. I intend to respray the Troll soon so will be watching with interest. | |

| In the R2B colour code 'B' means paint manufacturer Beckers. My 96 colour code is Y8B, but I have used Spies&Hecker paint Y8, which is very close to the original colour.

quote: Some of the color codes ends with a letter (B, G or H). This is only an indicator telling who the paint was produced by.
B - Beckers
G - Glasurit
H - Herberts (Standox)

| Indeed.
My current colour code shows R04B and that of course is where the discrepancy can occur. I think different paint manufacturers had their "own" shades - not much difference but different all the same; you need only look at the colour charts via the earlier posting.
The other option is to go for a modern solid colour and get as close a match as possible.
