Made a wire frame which clamps to the stand upright so I could rest a plastic tray under under the sump. Ideal for draining oil out and for catching stray parts.

Today's job finishing this off! E.g. Rubbing back, acid converting etc. I may paint the surface rust bits with grey paint, will do one area and see how it looks.

Now looking better. This mornings work...

Dinitrol Converust

Grey paint and will put three layers of Dintrol Corroheat clear on top tomorrow which will give it a more glossy appearance but not too glossy!

Nice to work on my own vehicle for a change and makes a nice change from sorting rust on Land Rovers. I have a Series One and a half, E Type coming in soon for attention. It is a neighbours that is mint already but he wants some bits attended to!

Good work. Planned this for summer on Betsy, but engine bay first.

I will be following with interest re your engine bay as I have to do mine. Have you a paint sprayer in mind or will you do It yourself? Tricky job apparently

At last this is pretty much the last of the underseal stripped/hacked off! I find the best tool to use if you don,t want to scratch the original undercoat paint is an old knife...

Just taken the sump and front cover off... All looks good to me (not that I know what I am looking at) for a 70k engine :D

No sludge in the sump amazingly considering it did about 12 miles a year for ten years just for an MOT and nothing on the oil strainer!

New map box arrived, pleased with it, very sturdy and it saves me a day of swearing trying to make one.

"Clever" never been accused of that before!

The new bumpers have just arrived, WOW! Very impressive and one less thing to worry about and spend money on in the future...

This is the difference Melle between old chrome and stainless steel, the SS is very slighlty more yellow but you would have to look closely in the field!. Very pleased with them

585 John a trade price . Should be 643, see link below which includes the 45 discount they are doing at the moment.

http://www.groupharrington.com/en/shop/show_cart.html

It was a good deal and could have been better as a group deal but I didn,t get any interest on either site.
