Thanks for the 'ballpark' figure.

Mine certainly needs doing - the sills are just bare metal!?!

I do like that green Land Rover. As my car also needs done and as I'm the wrong side of the Irish Sea to book it in with you, which products do you recommend. All the articles I see seem to praise Dinitrol although my local motor store seem to stock the Comma underseal and wax. Was going to buy some last week but held off until i investigated further. Ps always had a soft spot for the Mk1 & 2 Cortinas. That looks a nice one.

Cheers for that Chris. I'm off for a few weeks in September so will have a go then. I'll definitely need a mask as I suffer from asthma. Can't have any fumes at all!

How much is achievable in a garage at home with limited lifting facilities ( trolley jack, axle stands, ramps) ?
Is spraying equipment required ?

Sorry James I missed your post and question on the last page. A kit comprising of a mask, boiler suit, gloves etc plus aerosols for cavity wax, underbody wax, stone chip and rust converter can be bought from Rejel.com for about £120. No need for compressors and the cans are very good for coverage and you can get into places you can,t with a Shultz gun or similar. The cans also come with extension nozzles to get into the box sections, one about 3' long with a 360 degree spray nozzle.

It's what I use for the Land Rovers and works very well but I have just enough room to crawl underneath a Landie. I think you would have to drive up on ramps etc to get underneath a SAAB properly (careful of your mudflaps when reversing off them!).

I will start a corrosion prevention guide using past diagrams on the 96 etc that others have submitted on the subject in other clubs that we can all update and add to, to provide a pretty comprehensive guide on the subject

Spotted this yesterday whilst on hols. Rotten at just 6 years old, the underside is what the Titanic would look like if they ever pulled it up... It probably has been waded in the sea...

To be fair it lives in Cornwall where it rains all the time also! Forget sand castles, we made lots of URSAABs in the sand that soon turned into boobs for some reason, daughter is at THAT giggling age, not to mention me!!

Back on topic!

Had a SAAB shopping day today helping to clear out a guys garage of old stock...

Never seen one of these in the flesh before!? Bought it cos it is rare to me anyway and the larger bottle behind for my late model as mine has a hole in it.

Finally picked up a working clock with orange hands for the later models and a really nice pair of wing mirrors which I didn,t think I was going to find, no pitting etc. I was looking at the repro Mark Ashcraft ones at the weekend but these are original and cheaper than the repro ones so very pleased.

Bought the passenger side mat if anyone has a good drivers side and rears? Got the older front mat in pic below in the meantime, plus a spare soccerball as I only had four and another plastic grill (can never have enough of them!) and a 'Hadrian' steel front wing which makes a pair as I already have the other side :D

Questions? why does the water bottle have two pumps and wondering why there is a shorter tab/connection for the clock bulb (pictured below on clock side), seem to remember there is only one connection needed to connect, where is that connection lead. Thanks.

Second pump is for the headlight washers. Were the orange hand clocks from the 99? If so the connection would be for that wiring loom.

Maybe the Orange hands clocks were for the 99 as well but have never seen it from memory but have seen many in 96's over the years. I have connected the clocks before but it was a long time ago one lead for the bulb on the side and one for the tab on the back I think. just cannot remember. also seemed to remember not having to wire new leads up but that they were available at the back of dash somewhere but maybe wrong.

Pouring down today so made a couple of calls to pick up some goodies on a round robin instead of working :D

The NOS handles just above are just the job :D

Not the engine just the ancillaries... Probably don't work but might be handy to have and they were only a fiver so why not.

V4 & Two Stroke service manuals, parts catalogues, one for a Sonett but more interestingly a service information folder for the V4, this is really interesting detailing the updates and modifications of V4's over the years, a real insight into what the problems were and how they were corrected  I just didn,t realise, the real closed behind doors look at these motors!! Think you have one also JohnSAAB. I was going to do a comprehensive rust prevention guide on the V4 but it,s all in the service folder. Wish I had a scanner to put some of this up for people cos I ain,t typing it all out! A lot of you guys will already have the folder anyway...

Also bought this NOS mirror the other day, well it,s too nice a bit of bling not to!

If you could find a way to scan the complete service info folder I could upload it to www.saabv4.com to make it accessible to the world?

Melle my wife is full out at school in her miserable teaching job, She is not a happy bunny and would leave like 5 other teachers last year if I asked her to scan the file. Will wait until the holidays and do it myself at her school if they have one

This is the look I am thinking of doing on mine, but struggling with it, I am not a stripes and bling wheels bloke but I can always change it back. This one is for sale at the moment, POA on Preloved. LUV Indian Yellow.

Also a 14.5K long nose two stroke on Preloved and an 850 Monte Carlo on Blockett for 16.5k!!

These have just come through the post. NOS reversing light lenses. Nice!
