Dumb question!
These are obviously "handed" but I didn't spot that until today when I went to refit the rear suspension. Any clues as to which goes on which side, as they don't look right whichever way I put them!

Hi Rhys,
They are a bit of an odd shape. Mine both sit so that the step for the cut end of the spring is just to the rear of the stub axle and towards the left side of the car. Hope this helps

Clive

That is a help Clive, I messed around for ages trying to get the springs to be more or less straight at ride height! What you have suggested is the best solution I found, I can pull rear springs in and out in seconds now!

Oh Dear! Give Paul who I think you got the car from a call if you want my phone number, it's always possible mine aren't on the right way round

Interpreting the parts book drawing makes bolt 29 attach the plate to the stub axle with the U bolt going closest to the hub. Mirror image on the other side. Are the plates handed or are the springs handed to match the ends to the anti-rotation bump/recess, or whatever it is?
Pictures? I can't find any.

The ones on my 96 sit the same as the ones on Clive's car. The seats are handed, the springs are identical. I know, because I installed Rhys's old springs on my car today!

The springs are identical, side to side. Top seat is flat, bottom has a coil ending (does that make sense)
Yes, plates (number 16 in the drawing) differ from side to side, and the ONLY way they can mount is with the U bolts nearer the brake drum, as bolt 29 goes into a threaded hole in the stub axle.
Greg124, Paul passed your number a while back, thanks. The drawing would indicate what you suggested is correct.
It doesn't seem to matter which one I put on which side, the outcome seems the same. Maybe time for a 95 axle.
Steve at Malbrad said what I have is normal until they take load.
