Hi All,
Quite a bit more done since my last post. I ‘ve tried to post a few times slowly adding photos and then shutting down prior to publishing and losing everything I wanted to post.
I'm drafting it out first in a word doc, adding in the Flikr link and then posting the lot into the topic.

Repair to wheelhouse beneath inner wing.

[/url

The above were basically repairs to OS Front wheel housing. It took me ages.

Directly above is the floor repair which I did early on with my old welder and from below on my lift.
It is where the n/s front lower wishbone connects.
I didn’t grind it off just covered it with seam sealer. Not a pretty sight but I thought , after giving it a good bashing that it was strong enough. I had been noticing it too often, hence the question mark next to it.
I had also done the other side which wasn’t as in poor condition but I made a much better job of it,

O/s front

I thought I could do better now so I attacked

Ive done a bit more since these photographs so I'll post them in a few days.

Cheers

OK at risk of boring you all to death, I suppose with little narrative, just photos, it’s a little like showing people your holiday snaps. Here are some more pictures.

Front valance.

Starting N/S rear wing and lower roof/rear window areas.

Not looking forward to this bit. Ive made a steel template for the Curve of the waist line but working inside the rear seat and boot areas isn't to be easy, even after cutting out the top section of the rear seat support
The offside the equivilent is even worse with rust extending into the roof area.

Cheers

Thanks for your intrest Vdrive.

Ive made a start.

I cleaned up the inner wing treated it with rust remover and Hydrate 80 and 2 pack epoxy a
This was to provide temporary protection during the welding and grinding. I'll clean it all up before giving the second coat of 2pack.

This section has been cut and tacked up ready for temporary fixing into place and the holes for the captive nuts to be marked up.
I have fully welded it since the phot was taken but there has been some heat distortionso I'll have to do a little fettling.
I ordered some new 516 x 34 UNC 18tpi bolts and nuts off Amazon for speed.
I've ended up with the correct nuts but 3/8 x 3/4 24tpi somthing or others.

Cheers

Great work, some really tricky areas to access and figure out how to make repair patches. Great progress.

Wish I could have flipped mine for doing the sills.

Following with interest the evolution, you are able to repair any part and difficult corner. great work.

I'm learning a lot with the process and at the same time taking courage for buying a welder and trying in a short future.

Well I’ve basically finished the nearside wing top/roof/boot area.
would have liked to have done it a bit more professionally.
It’s going to have to have more filler over it than I wanted to but I have found it difficult.

Ive now started the offside.

On this side everything seems to be filler and red lead.

That's as far as I've got.

Anyone got a section of inner roof like this available from a breaker?

Cheers

Hi
I have done a bit more. With the absence of any bits of roof being available I have started to fabricate some bits.

I was the majority of the way through writing this post when I pressed "undo" and lost the whole post and have had to start again!
Not happy!
So this will just have to be a taster.
I'm going for a pint and will continue this post by means of editing it later.

Cheers

Thanks for what I took to be a compliment Woody, as I’m not known for my patience and forberance, with this project I have not had any choice, it is the only way I’m going to complete it.
Your remarks give me encouragement.

Anyway I have uploaded the latest photo’s’

I did make the panel shoown in my previous post and it was a failure. I decided to do it again and used the frog tape method, not welded it in yet but its almost there,

I have been a bit concerned about doing the outside waistline and the curve of the roof.
When I bought some secondhand doors for the car I kept the old ones thinkin that any shaped good metal may come in handy.
The curve above the waste line on the door is very similar to that on the section at the bottom of the roof, so I had a go. Its been resonaby success ful and after skiming over with filler I think it will be OK.

Weldings a bit too messy but I had to keep burning back to get to some decent metal, Difficult to see it up the inside of the panel.

Its kept the overall curves reasonable.

Ive also replaced some sections of the inner wing and prepared the a section to replace the flange at the top of the wing.

Great progress, some really difficult areas to work on there. Such a rewarding process, great to follow along.

Dynorog.
Aye great stuff Dynorog.
Though my blue 96 has had tons of welding on it over the years, when I look at what you have done on this car I realise that it's not that bad after all.
Amazing job. well done sir.

I'd love to see this car in the flesh, when it's finished
Is it likely to be finished for next year's show season?
ie Will we see it at Swedish day or SaabFest?
