Hi guys,

motor was running excelently, some few tears comming from hoses joints were eliminated immediately, but that devils appendix - the heater valve was leakig strong. That stupid little sealing couldn't find anywhere, and plus take it now out!
But there is always a sollution. I found on ebay shop a heater valve NOS for WW Bus, plastic one very simple and functional for 6 EU (there are still lot of them in german shops). I only had to invent a support to fix it on the same place useing the existing holes.

some modification of hoses needed , but important is it works perfectly

following foto: my way to compress the springs for montage

when the car was on its own four last welding was made - side panels

ones weldid this the skeleton was prepared for filling shaping and spraying

with primer on looks better

and the final coat, this is actual status of the body. Still there are the wins , doors etc to do
The front panel is ready but waits its time for front wings

mirror coating of lights was lightly damaged and dark so I sent them to repair .Very nice result came back.

Hi Lupo, that is the same heater valve that I used but after two of them leaking I now use this,

Its a 15mm isolater valve with home made operating arm, works really well.Total cost was about £5.

Hi Chris,
thanks for your info, my first idea was also to use one ND 15 ball valve of soldering system, but then Ihave found that plastic VW one. Are they realy so poor quality? I think to prepare already the new copper set to be ready for replacement.

Exactly same valve on mine, and yes, it has just started leaking this weekend. I have sealed all the seams with two part adhesive and am waiting to see if it will hold. Pity - it seemed such a simple solution.

I suggest you get your replacement ready!

Hi guys,
I haven't mentioned before I couldn't find different rubber bushings and espetialy rear upper spring seats (what remained on car was not identificable). I found a company that produces this stuff on request but I had to send them the drawings. So I measured what was possible and estimate what was not, sent the drawing, and after few weeks I had them at home. Good quality and everything matched perfectly, and the price was much lower that I saw on market.

my drawing

And may we know which company you used to have the rubber bushings made ?
I have been looking everywhere for the torsion bar rubbers but no result so far.

I do have to say that your restoration is a labour of love.
Good luck

Hi all,
in september (2012) I started to cut my rusty wings, which I wanted already to throw out 3 years ago as I purchased new ones in Germany, payed in advance 400 Eu, but till now nothing arrived (tax for to much trust).

and again patchwork with steel plates

blocksanding and sweating

here with first coat , and still some corrections

watch these, original bumpers

the front one I saved and let them new chrome plated, the rear one bought complete new from Skandix (not cheap, and almost half weight, hope it's not a toy)

the boot handle also rechromed and with new number plate lights (from Skandix as well)

I've had a similar affair with someone in Germany, email me who it was, I might be able to help if it turns out to be the same 'seller'.

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to solve another problem of my project, the instrument panel, during the years and strong sun it opened itself as a flover.
All edges cut and filled with elastic acrylic polymer. I'm searching for a good product for final coat. Already found one, hope Ok and doing the experiments with it. Sure it comes not as original. When ready I'll show the photo.

ready for experiments
