Thanks, engine mounts are 30mm taller than the original, so engine mounting brackets have to be modified as can be seen in pictures above. No other modifications needed.

I had two sets of mounting brackets and then I was able to compare the original vs. modified.

Modifications for current summer: Intake valve guides were renewed in machine shop and intake valve size was changed from 39.5mm to 41.5mm. Before that I grinded the intake ports by enlarging the width from standard to approx. 21.5mm from intake manifold side, improved (probably ) the shape of the intake ports and enlarged the port throat from 31.5mm to 35mm.

Valve springs were also changed from Classic Saabracing springs to Kent cams springs. According to measurements with force meter there is only minor difference between those springs.

According to Megasquirt logs acceleration with 3rd gear between 1500-5000rpm is close to the same with bigger valves and ports, but now engine pulls up to 6400rpm. Before modification max rpm was about 5800.

So bigger valves and larger ports kept the low end performance as good as it was before the modification, but performance in high revs improved and I am quite satisfied now about the usable rev range

Installed VW bug 200mm "Big blue" pressure plate with 3.5mm thick shims between flywheel. Also enlarged the flywheel center bore from 203mm to 206mm, which should be in VW 200mm flywheel. Flywheel was lightened to 5.6kg, because VW pressure plate is 1.3kg heavier than stock.

Clutch pedal feels much stiffer, but I think I can handle it.

Also installed Volvo 740 56mm throttle body. Saab 9000 intake hose and air filter with DIY filter box are also installed during this summer.

Awesome, looking forward to hearing how you get on with the clutch.

I have actually driven with the new pressure plate for a few of days now. Clutch works very well and I think I am not going to do any changes with the clutch in future (or near future).

But the pressure plate with 771kg force needs so much more pedal force, so I would not recommend this to everyone. Probably VW Sachs HD pressure plate (550kg) would be more comfortable to use. This one is probably VW HD pressure plate:

Future plan for separate exhaust ports is to make divider with middle flange. There will be separate flange welded to exhaust header tubes with 4 fastening bolts.

Car was tuned in dynamometer and some tunings were made to ignition advances at low revs and fuel values in partial throttle when accelerating.

107 HP@5550RPM and 154Nm@4400RPM were measured as power from flywheel. I am very satisfied with the results and now it is time for winter sleep of the car.

Thank Melle and Bonne!

Plans for the winter:
-Paint intake manifold using same dark grey color as cabin fan enclosure
-Replace bosch PWM idle valve with Ford PWM idle valve. Hoping to get better stability to ocasionally oscillating idle. Bosch idle valve has little bit too coarse steps in my MS2 setup and this is just an experiment if ford valve has better control. At least Ford valve is used as small as 1.3 engines in Ford Fiesta.
-Probably replace Ford EDIS wasted spark ignition coil with individual coils for each cylinder. This should not make noticeable difference to engine behaviour, but it is the next step after wasted spark and the installation will look cleaner

Interesting, I've just bought a set of VAG COP coils for my EFI engine: https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/223136/selecting-coil-plug-coils-conversion

I have thought about the VAG type of coils first, which are connected directly to the end of spark plug. But then decided to use coils which are installed to valve covers and short spark plug wires like they use in V8 engines. For example GM LS2 coils.

VAG type coils probably need support structure, so I thought it would be easier to use coils with spark plug wires.

Chevy LS1 coils with Chevy V8 year 2008 spark plug wires installed and tested on the road few weeks ago. I think the V4 runs even little bit smoother than before, but not much difference. Also I noticed that cam sensor position was one crankshaft turn wrong so the sequential injection timing was not correct. This might also make a difference.

Looking good! Did you use OEM or aftermarket coils?

Have you seen the rear-engined Exonett? He also uses LS1 coils, quite an interesting project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve-bDSE4L6U&list=PL1TLZJYuFd5OigKNkZ9wU5kSs-Nhgvbnn
