Hi all,
I experimented with my control panel, used hybrid polymer Wisacoll HPK 675, not very easy to apply, sticky, but has other good qoalities . Final coat passed with small plastic roll to create skin design - more or less succesful, close to crocodile skin, but who said I can't have crocodile skin on my panel (if not environmentalists) and finaly black dye spray. Another problem left. Still I have one problem technicaly not yet resolved , door lock cylinders, the cores totaly damaged. Has anybody any good idea? I thought to find some half cylinder (KABA has round ones) and adapt them. I'll see.

Hi, here I am again with a small step forwards. My new side window frames are fresh painted, must wait for few days to harden them and then insert the glass. Was not so easy to produce them as after many small tig welds which created tension, it was too opened or too closed, so I had to repeat the cuts and weldings several times till right shape.

Even grinding the welds inside tiny profile is not an easy game.

I made new corner joints as the old ones (see left) were totaly corroded

I preserved a piece of old frame to have reference of curve.

Hi everybody, here am I again. Very sad I couldn't come to Kettering. I booked room in White Lion already in February, but ...the whole June I was paralysed by herniated disc of the back and started works in garage only in middle of July so my V4 was not ready for the event. Looked your photos, had to befantastic there, so many SAABs.
Here are some photos from my garage - theese 3 from week ago (still so much to do)

and theese from today

I saw few discusions about tires, my decision was Vredestein Snow+ 155 R 15, they say to be good also for summer especialy wet roads. Price not bad ca 70 £ each.

Welcome back,
Sorry to see you have had back problems. Hope things are on the mend.
Good to see the jeep covered up, mine has become a parts store.
The Saab is looking interesting, I could say "rivetting"- a most unusual effect.

Your car looks great, it's come a long long way since those welding photos!!!

Very interesting paint job too - it will definitely get some heads turning when she flies down the street!

Nearly there, but don't risk your back again!

Hi guys,
thanks for your comments.
Woody, the idea of rivetts arrived when few years ago I bought rubber window sealings from Jack Ashcraft US, he enclosed there a SAAB sticker with slogan "born from jets", then I said why not to put on something from jets. Anyhow I recognised that real rivetting would be much quicker and easier then the airbrushed ones.
Melle, thanks for the link, but my problem was door cylinders (totaly blocked) so I throw out all small intern pistons and springs, so they work ok now (with any SAAB key but who knows that).

There's a chopped Volvo Amazon in silver with a similar finish, all air brushed rivets. Lots of pics on the net. I saw it at a show in Belgium and it looks to be a Belgian car. Here's a pic on this thread.....

Yes Derek, this is one of most beautiful rivetting sample done by biker airbrush artist Willy Vergeylen in 1999. This technique is enough popular by custom cars and bikes airbrush painting.
